Hello GTV8s, recently I reinstalled GTA IV and, after some activation troubles, actually got it up and running again. However the multiplayer seemed rather empty...  So I was wondering if anyone else here still has a functional GTA IV installation and might be in the mood to do some racing? I was thinking we could maybe do it as some kind of weekly throwback thursday theme. EDIT: Due to intense (some) interest from the people, our next meetup will happen on thursday, February 21th 2019 - 7 PM GMT.  If anyone needs help setting up GTA IV again, feel free to post and we will try to help you out as best as we can..

This is a good suggestion and hopefully it sparks more interest.
i know after the latest IV patch, the game became easier to setup but i will have to try again and see if i get issues, will do soon..

Realy nice idea for retro and oldschool racing in GTA 4 
But not for me, I'm done with GTA 4. It's not the game or the ppl. This is a personal thing. Sorry  I hope you all have much fun  |

L2 and I had just tested gta IV over an hour to a very satisfactory degree, from racing to freemode.
I was playing @ 4k 40-60 fps with all high but night shadows off, i never had the pleasure to experience gta IV like today. Driving felt quite fun.
Really worth a try guys!
The last patch resolved a lot of issues and it runs a lot smoother. You can now alt tab without the game dying for example, the steam chat overlay works properly too, hell even my old account was fixed!
I had literally 0 issues getting it to run from a fresh install, without having to go over all the workarounds we had to do 10 years ago. That is history now.

I tried to install gta 4 a year ago, what a fucking pain in the arsehole with the activation and stuff. I think i gave up hope with it that day totally. Have the authentic marker game, but after gta V's social club stuff, i found installing gta IV again impossible, tried even cracking and all... ) :

Steam works like magic for me, you download the game, install it and just play right away as long as you got access to your xbox/gfwl account. |
