Some of you might be familiar with the fact that the fps can have an impact on the physics ingame. In NoDo it's a general practice to turn on v-sync, which limits the fps to stable 60 (given an okay PC), making things more fair. Well, someone told me they use the v-sync provided by their graphics card and not the one ingame, as it seems to be rather crappy.
I myself always used the ingame option, as everything else results in stuttering. With ingame v-sync enabled I can even run very high and ultra settings without framedrops or the PC getting loud. However with ingame v-sync disabled and relying on the graphics card to limit the fps to 60 I tend to have a lower framerate on higher settings. Which would make sense, if it wasn't for the fact that on low settings the framerate would just randomly tank.
So I've been toying around with different setting, especially intereted how the RE-7B would react with a glitched setup. With my usual settings the build in speedometer would reach about 160mph. Disabling ingame v-sync generally makes it faster, though I wouldn't play the game for long. With v-sync on again and some settings maxed out the topspeed would climb up to 170mph. Then I found out that some settings, like grass, have an ultra setting. With this the car ocasionally even maxes out the speedometer's range (180).
My conclusions are as following: PCs are strange. Ultra Grass makes you go faster. Rockstar uses computers to make games, but games used on computers shouldn't be made by Rockstar.

Interesting. What kind of speedometer are you using, is it a "benign" online friendly mod?

Just looked at the speedometer inside the car. I know it's not acurate, but as long as I only compare the RE-7B to itself the values should be representative. Wouldn't touch any mods, especially not online.

Oh, and by the way: I was able to cut off about 0.9s from my fastest lap with a Tyrus on the track for the upcoming event. Didn't change the line or anything, just used the settings that seem to have a positive effect on the top-speed of the RE-7B. This stuff improving the top-speed of an utterly broken car is one thing, making a not so broken setup consistently faster around a track without even doing anything to the fps is ridiculous.

(...) This game is really the only one I purposely lock at 60 FPS, and it is all because of sportsmanship.
