I too see the lamppost thing as an issue, those things really can screw over following cars. However, I find the idea waiting for other people to pass after knocking over something a bit too harsh. At that point you might be throwing the race. Also in most cases it more of an accident than anything else, I think. And some tracks really make you take risky lines.

i am not quick enough for using the pole-trick in GTA5. But i have to admit that i already used it in GTA4, e.g. to stay first. You reminded me not to do so and to stay fair, thx.

i cant say for everyone, but when the lag is bad,it sometimes projects where your car is headed in a straight line and knocks over poles.beckosun can speak to this about me and ive had that happen with him.was racing with nodo crew last week and i was exploding those fuel tanks on corners but i was nowhere near them.im suggesting that what you see on your screen,is not necessarily what others may see. i can see others lagging at times,my game doesnt actually lag that much, but im constantly told i lag hard to others.what i do get is poor hit detection.if i hit a pole, generally i will spin so i try to stay away and i dont kerb a lot...i see it as two types of racers.hot lappers will exploit every advantage to go fast....others work within the limitations of how their game runs,or they just like doing traditional lines.maybe it has something to do with arcade racers and simulation racers...not saying one is wrong one is right.ultimately the goal is to go fast.....my suggestion is maybe doing stock car pit/endurance events.the more damage you incur, the more you have to pit..either that or remove armor from custom cars. its not easy to know what happens behind you.coms may help...but generally i agree with funkasize.
