Hi Rush, thanks for the nice impressions. For me it was right the other way around: I was in New York (& Washington) in October 2008 and then in Liberty City from December 2008 on. Ok nice, I didnt know this The One World Trade Center wasnt at this time ready, isnt it? The new Skyline looks sooo amazing and at Sunset its even better. I think every year, the build 1 new Skycraper NY is just WOW and Im glad, that we can use the subway and our car can park for free in front of the house. No chance per Car here, the traffic is worse than Toronto. But we learned from this. And parking is sooooo expensive. Lucky for us, the day we arrived on Saturday in the late evening, the streets were fine. No proplem to get through, even at the hotspots Manhattan. Hi Rush, great travelogue. "Stars in your eyes" and "Drag Kings" :-) absolutely brilliant. :-) I wish you a pleasant time, lots of fun and a spirit of discovery. Many greetings from home Thanks alot. On our last day, Ill try to get to the Brooklyn Bridge per car and of course Ill try to drive the classic "Round the block" with the Manhattan Bridge. Grettings from NY, have a nice time and hopefully enjoy the new Night Life Update in GTA Online. Omg I miss you all so much and especcialy the gaming.

Ok nice, I didnt know this The One World Trade Center wasnt at this time ready, isnt it? The Twin Towers were build from 1968 to 1971. 7 years after 9/11 it looked like this:
As we stood there, it felt like an open wound in the skyline of NYC...

A few days have passed since the last report. A month ago we were at our first Six Flag Park in Chicago and we have bought a Session Pass for unlimited entrance and free parking in every Six Flag Park this year. At the moment we were in the 5th Park Its such an amazing fun with these wild rollercoasters. The lines are very empty, 10-15 minutes waiting time or even less is perfect. We didnt expect this. After New York the hot days with 35-38°C began. So we skipped the Philadelpia Trip for a cool Pool day with some shadow and selfmade ice melone. In Washingtom the same weather, endless heat and sun. But we did the city trip. Of course it was a small trip. White House, Capitol and some other monuments etc. and back to the pool After this we were at Virgina Beach. Nice city, but nothing special for us. At the moment we are in Great Smokie Mountain NP. I forgot the next NP , but after this we will be in Atlanta, some small spots and than New Orleans. I wish you a great time

Oh I missed the most important. Of course I was looking for the Rockstar Studios in NY at Broadway. First I missed the entrance, but after I checked the Housenumber I was sure Im right there. But as you know Rockstar, they want to isolate themselves from outside. As I expected, you couldnt see from outside who works there. Not even a mailbox, a doorbell or a yellow Rockstar sticker, nothing. I opend the door and just looked at the elevator and a secruity guy told me, there is nothing special too see, its just a office. So I left with a big smile. At the door another man came in, I was watching him, because he wore a GTA 5 Los Santos. Maybe an employee.

Hey Rushki, nice to read your reports again. Glad to hear that you are fine. We miss you.
I hope you told the bodyguard at Rockstar about the Hunting Pack bug. It freezes almost every evening. We already wrote tickets, so in case you visit them again take some C4 and press G after you left the place.
What you missed in Germany: a minister of internal affairs going wild, no drop of rain the last 2 weeks and about 25°-30 C, Soccer desaster (War's der Türke schuld?) and the Armageddon of an old world order. So just as usual.
Greetings and have a good time,
da Grandpa

Hey there, I hope everyone is fine and enjoys the After Hour Update. How is it? At our arrive in Atlanta we had to go to our Car Rental, because after over 11.000 miles since the first day, the car needed a maintenance and oil change. Good for us, we got a new car, a much bigger car. It took more than 1h to transfer the baggage and all the camping stuff to the other car. In Atlanta we planned some indoor activities, because the weatherforcast was not so good. We were in the world biggest aquarium, in the Coca Cola museum, in a bodies exhibition and after the weather was good we were in the Zoo in our 7th Six Flag. After Atlanta we were at our next campground in Perry, North Florida. The huminity was so high, as well the temperature. Everywere mosquitos and ants. We went to the pool for chill out. During this time a big thunderstorm came. We were under a roof. After this we went back to our tent, but we noticed it was destroyed from the thunderstorm. We had the worst fears about our personal things in the tent. It looked so terrible, everywhere water and mut over and in the tent. But we had sooo much luck. Only the tent, sleeping bags and pads we had to remove for trash. All other things were unbeliveable dry or washable like our cloths before we get to the pool. So after a new car, we have a new tent etc After this we needed a try location to calm down and washing our clothes, so we took a hotel room. In Pensecola we had a perfect weather for the beach, so we enjoyed the next hot days there. It looked like the Key West. Now we are in New Orleans. A very beautiful city on the Mississipi, especially the French Quarter. We were in the City Park, took a ride with a loud Airboat through the Lousiana Wetlands (Mississipi Delta), saw many crocodiles and in the end of the day we were on a old Steam Boat in the Mississipi. Its realy crazy, in Bemidji Minesota we at the first miles from the Mississipi and now we are at the Delta after such long track through the USA from the river. We had a realy exciting day Today we have planned the museum of death and cinema. The next locations are very small, many National Parks etc. We drive northwards to Memphis Tennesee, St. Louis Missouri and than westwards to the westcoast. And we want to try to get to the historical Route 66. The first idea for our journey. In L.A. and Chicago we have seen the start and end of the road. Have a great time

Long time ago I have written here. From St. Luis we planned our trip on the Historic Route 66. So we started in Springfield Missouri to Oklahoma City. The guidebook with some maps was very helpfully, but as a part from the modern time, we wanted all these dates in our GPS. In difficult points we took the book for more info text. Its unbelieveable how much from the Route 66 is still driveable. In Missouri, Texas and New Mexico the Historic Route is easy to find, with many signs and paints on road. In Oklahoma we were happy about this book, because the signs on roads were very very rare. But some parts are unpaved, but these are good unpaved roads. Some parts are missing or destroyes, so you have to drive another road oder Interstate, but the book told such very important thinks. Its a great feeling to drive this Route 66. It takes 8-9 houres for just 250miles, but its worth for it. You see many old wrack cars, next to the street. Very old, maybe from 50' to 80' like we drive now im Sport Classic. Many abandoned service stations and restaurants etc. You can feel the boom at the begine from Route 66. On our first day on the route we were at a restaurant, it calls Rock Cafe which is since 1939 there and open. It was realy nice. Later on track, about 5 miles from our campside and late in evening after a 9 hours tour on road, a police officer stopped us, with some red and blue lights. Because I didnt stopped complete at the Stop Sign on a realy small dark road cross. My speed at the sign was like a pedestrian walking, so yeah he did a very correct work. But the officer was realy friendly and told me to stop complete at every stop sign. Three days on Route 66 with different landscapes and track styles. The first in Springfield Missouri to Oklahoma City was for me the best. But every part was unique and nice. A small road, many old cars and buildings like i said before, with many green parts and much trees. From Oklahoma to Amarillo Texas with the wide and empty landascape and 1000 of cows near the road, and some unpaved roads. The 3th to Albuquerque (Braking Bad ) New Mexico with the hot desert part and many Interstates part in the mountains. We stopped on each Campside for just 1 night. After these 3 days we were in the colorful Colorado and finally Natl Parks again. At the first 2 stops at Mesa Verde and Black Canyon I didnt unterstood the Colorful Colorado, because everywhere desert, stones and dry bushes/trees, but the road to Rocky Mountains told me another story. Rivers, fresh green gras and trees and awesome mountains. At the top we were at 12000 ft point and after this, all the way down to our campground. In the Rocky Mountains we spent 3 days, with some hiking and wildrafting of course. 30miles before our next location we had to take a detoure with a lot of traffic, because the Interstate was closed because of a wild bush fire. In the Colorado Monument we enjoyed the impressive red rocks and cliffs there. From that time the red stone and earth was everywhere where we are. After this we were in Utah in some other Natl. Parks like Arche (the most impressive for us), Canyonlands, Bryce and today we arrived the Zion Natl. Park. The trip was very short, just 2 hours. So for me, I planned a cool Pooltime there in the afternoon. After a stop at the gas station, 10miles from our next Campground, I heard a strange noise from the front left tire and I stopped the car. There was a big piece of metal in the tire, so our tour was stopped. After some calls at our Rentalservice, a mechanic changed the emergency tire and the guy told us, where we can repair the damaged tire. After a call at our Rentalservice and a shopping trip, while the tire was being repaired, we where on tour again. Yes in the USA you can repair your car in a supermarket, while you can go shopping there. xD Thanks to our friendly Rentalservice, the mechanic and the huge cheap supermarket in the US with the big "W" That was a great service on a sunday afternoon. In germany you have to wait to monday or next days, to repair your car. For fixing the tire at "W" we paid just 10$ + tax, in germany you would pay +100$. So we are happy, the car is fine again, we lost just 3 hours and arrived our campground in the late afternoon. Our next stops are Slot Canyon, Great Canyon, Las Vegas, Death Valley , Joshua Tree, Phoenix, San Diego and some other Natl. Park, which I forgot And of course we will spend again 5 days in L.A. where our road trip began and will end. I wish you a wonderful time.

Heyho Rushki, thank you very much for you report again. I am sure that will be a nice remembrance for yourself too, and we take part on your tour. Nice to read that you drove the Route - and a shame on you for needing a mechanic to get an emergency wheel! ;-) Btw. for fixing a punctured tire my mechanic takes 10€ too. (Maybe it is also because of the rustyness of my Twingo, who knows what it would cost for a superclassic car.) You missed our 5 Year Rockstar Social Club Party, it was very nice with about 20 visitors. We danced in the new nightclubs and took some drinks, drove Roller Coaster together, had some fails with the Zeppelin and jumped from the Maze Bank Tower to fly to Del Pierro Pier. Very nice, see the video here. Have a good time! Greetings, Grandpa

After the flat tire, our bad luck continued at the Zion Natl. Park. For our 2nd hiking day, we noticed at the visitor center, that our planned trail was closed, because for some repairing trails after a big thunderstorm. So the Ranger told us for a similar trail, was named Hidden Trail. We started at 7:30 in the morning and after a short, very steep and dangerous parts, we arrived the end of the trail at 9:00. It was a one way trail. On the top we made our 2nd breakfast of the day and enjoyed the view and the silince. Suddenly we heared like a huge thunder at a sunny day without clouds. o.O We got scared of this, because we didnt know from where it came. So we stoped our breakfast, to looking from where it came. A huge rock about 20m x 7m was fallen down a wall about 50m. A family watched this at the right moment. The problem for now was, the crashed rocks and the much sand blocked our return way. So we were trapped for a unknown time in the Hidden Canyon, because it was a one way trail. And it was too dangerous to take this way, because the wall was still cracking and small stones fell down. 10 min before the fallen rocks we passed this location and noticed some sand on the bottom. Some signs warned for own risk for this trail, but we did many trails like this in the past time. Its the mother nature. Rocks, wild life like bears (we have seen 2 wild bears) or mountain lions. Surprising 5min after the fallen rocks, a older couple arrived us. They had sooo much luck, because some seconds later, they could be heavy injured or dead. Lucky for us all, nobody was injured, just a little bit shocked. It was a beautiful day and early 9:30, so we had enough time at daytime for rescue. So 9 people was trapped and a Ex Police Officer made some calls for emergency and the Ranger. We talked about our imaginations, how we beeing rescued. The only think could be a heli. We knew they made a plan. And finaly, after 8hours, a heli arrived with a person on a robe. After savety instructions, the heli took 2 persons per robe to a parking lot, 1000feet downhill. After 9hours everybody was rescues and happy to stay on the ground. We skipped the 2nd trail on this day, which we planned. In Slot Canyon we made some guided tour, per foot and boats, because this is in the hands of an Indian Reservoir. They have even another time (summer time there), as the rest of Arizona. At Grand Canyon we made a trail on the rim of the Canyon. It was amazing, but the best was the 2nd day with a planned heli tour. Its was fantastic, it was my first heli flight (in a heli ), and this new view was very intersting. Las Vegas, you know that city...maybe We spent 3$ and get 10$...mission completed. So I dont have to write about it. And yeah I have rememberd this city from GTA SA. So I was in every main city from the GTA university... mission completed Death Valley was very hot, so we didnt want to camp in a tent. We started our short hiking tour at 7:00 to a waterfall, ironic isnt it? At 5:30 in the morning it was even 34°C. Joshua Tree Natl. Park is a Park with many Joshua Trees. Haha They look funny, like a mix of cactus and a palm. You can see those in the GTA Grand Senora Desert. Saguaro Natl. Park is a Park with many cactus cultures. The word came from the Indian. I have never seen so much and big cactus like here. Phoenix and San Diego was nothing special to write. And now, we arrived Los Angeles yesterday and we stay here for 6 days and enjoy the beautiful city. Today we were at our 9th and last Six Flags. At Santa Monica Pier we want to take a ride on the rollercoaster and the Ferries Wheel, like at the San Piero Pier in GTA. Its a great and strange feeling, to come back (to home, to Los Santos ) after 6 months, where we started our long journey through the USA and Kanada. And Im happy we did it, without any big issues. Our trip per car took about 20k miles, in 6 months and since Las Vegas the 2nd car need a oil change, but we skipped that for the last miles. The 1st car needed a oil change in Atlanta, so we had to change the car. Im glad we did it. Ill post some photos, when Im home, next weekend.

If the belts and robes are between your legs and hold your weight, not realy grandpa. But now I know how does it feel to hang on a rope of a GTA Maverick.
